Why should I keep my pets inside?

Did you know that the hottest time of the day is between 11am – 3pm? Allowing your pets to go outside when the heat is at its strongest can cause serious burns to animal’s paws, leaving them in excruciating pain. One way to determine whether it is too hot for your pets to be outside is by resting your hand on a tarmac surface. If you are unable to leave your hand on the surface for more than 5 seconds, it is too hot for your pet.

Refraining from walking your furry friend’s midday is a simple and easy way to keep your pets cool this summer. It is better to walk your pets in the early hours of the morning or late at night when it is much cooler, saving them from becoming at risk to heat stroke.

TIP: Aim to pick a route where there is plenty of shade to walk in or cool water to paddle in.

Keeping your pets hydrated
